Printed e-paper displays from Ynvisible are cost-effective, ultra-low-power, thin & flexible, and highly customizable. Dynamic information where you need it, when you need it, at a price you can afford.
The deep-tech company Ynvisible, with offices in Germany, Portugal, Canada, and Sweden, is disrupting the low-cost and ultra-low-power display industry thanks to the latest advantages in sustainable electronics and roll-to-roll printing production. Printed electronics have opened the door to new opportunities to print flexible electrical circuits directly onto various substrates like plastics, papers, and textiles. The e-paper displays from Ynvisible are roll-to-roll printed on PET plastic substrates that make them thin, flexible, cost-effective, and a more sustainable display option. The reflective screen technology is based on conductive electrochromic polymers that change color with only 1.5 volts.
Ynvisible’s e-paper displays are being implemented in applications where no other display technologies have been used before. Low costs, energy efficiency, sustainability, thinness, and flexibility are the key drivers that all need to be satisfied. Imagine using a bulky, glass-based, rectangular, power-hungry display in a smart card, an intelligent packaging application, in a wristband, or a wound dressing. This is simply not an option. Ynvisible’s solution is targeting those markets with a unique roll-to-roll printed e-paper solution, making it highly scalable and cost-effective.
Not all applications for Ynvisible’s e-paper displays are new or futuristic. Ynvisible’s printed e-paper is replacing incumbent technologies such as reflective LCD, electrophoretic e-paper, and LED indicators in a variety of industries.
Digital Signage is one of the fastest growing customer segments, especially within the retail sector to show dynamic prices, discounts, and product information. Ynvisible’s large format e-paper displays are ideal for public information displays and digital signage, particularly off-the-grid applications.
Exevio is one of Ynvisible’s digital signage customers. Exevio is developing smart road signs to visualize the number of available EV chargers to avoid using a smartphone while driving. Exevio was looking for an affordable and ultra-low-power digit display that was easy to integrate. After evaluating traditional non-printed e-paper options, they decided to use Ynvisible’s solution.
The retail sector is not only digital signage but also dynamic price labels and electronic shelf labels. Digety, a company revolutionizing electronic price labels in the fashion industry, has selected Ynvisible as the supplier of displays for its re-usable digital price labels. Digety’s price labels address needs within sustainable clothing and fashion. Ynvisible’s displays will go into Digety’s re-usable smart price labels, which are flexible enough to pass as paper labels and designed to minimize electronic waste.
Smart Monitoring Labels is another key market for Ynvisible. Cost-effective, energy-efficient, lightweight, and thin, Ynvisible’s monitoring labels are bringing increased visibility and transparency in cold chain & logistics monitoring, inventory & storage monitoring, and various industry 4.0 smart labels.
Innoscentia has chosen Ynvisible's e-paper displays for its dynamic expiry date labels on food packages. Instead of static expiry date estimations on the packages, Innoscentia has developed materials that can be combined with the Ynvisible display, enabling real-time quality monitoring of food. This solution aims to reduce food waste significantly and detect spoiled food in time, even before the expiry date.
The smart labels market also includes authenticity & security applications, to securely and intuitively answer questions such as “Has it been used?” and “Is it real?”. Ynvisible has developed a battery-less label that is used for brand protection and anti-counterfeiting. Scan the label with an NFC-enabled smartphone and the display will activate if the product is real.
